On Valentine’s Day 1968, Michael Chow opened the first MR CHOW in and introduced a new concept of fine dining, serving authentic Beijing cuisine with elegant European-style service. In 1974, MR CHOW expanded to the United States, opening a location in the heart of Beverly Hills. Restaurateur, artist & collector Michael Chow hosted an evening of dinner and dancing to celebrate MR CHOW’s 50th Anniversary. The celebration, held at Chow’s 60,000 sq/ft. artist studio in a converted warehouse in downtown Los Angeles, landed on the Chinese New Year and included a surprise traditional dragon dance. Michael’s children Asia, China and Maximilian Chow and their aunt Adelle Lutz danced to music by DJ Cash and enjoyed dinner prepared by Michael’s chefs who flew in from his restaurants from around the world. The party started with cocktails in the “art gallery” which featured 7 of his most recent large painting as well as an Urs Fischer “Michael Chow” full size wax sculpture that burned during cocktails. Over the years, MR CHOW has become famous for hosting exclusive events for museums, artists and fashion houses.
