The Alliance for Women held their 40th Annual Gracies Awards at The Beverly Hilton on May 19th, 2015. The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) is a non-profit, professional organization that wanted pushed for equal rights between men and women in media and entertainment. They hold The Gracies Awards to recognize exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women in all facets of media and entertainment. Host Tracee Ellis Ross said “What a fun night, women honoring women for subject matters about women for women by women, its a good night”. Ewan McGregor presented one of the most notable awards of the evening to Maggie Gyllenhaal for her role in The Honorable Woman. She gave a motivational acceptance speech about the importance of self-appreciation “It’s really hard even being yourself, even a sprout, but that’s what makes you beautiful.” During the ceremony, music icon Linda Perry performed a stripped down version of What’s Up, and a moving rendition of Christina Aguilera’s Beautiful. It was a spectacular evening filled with beautiful females that are making a mark in the entertainment industry.
