Summer in California overlooking the water at The Strand in Dana Point for Oceana is the perfect time and place to host the 8th Annual Fundraiser for Restoring and Protecting the Oceans on August 2, 2015, honoring Dr. Enric Sala and his work to preserve the Earth’s last unmarred oceans. His featured book coming out in September discusses these untainted spots all across the world and how we can continue to keep them in their original state.
The evening’s theme Mad about the Ocean” with special guest Jon Hamm and January Jones (Oceana ambassador) as well as Sam Waterson, Laura Dern, and Kiernan Shipka were apart of the 400 guests who attended the event.
The party included a seated dinner, dancing, as well as a live and silent auction containing a BMWi8 Electric Sports car, a custom set of Louis Vuitton luggage, a trip to Sir Richard Branson’s private island located in the British Virgin Islands and more outstanding gifts were bid on (presenting sponsors include BMWi and the Orange County BMW Dealers).
Due to the recent events, including the oil spill that occurred in Santa Barbara where many people in the California area were directly affected, it is fantastic to have a advocacy group like Oceana that continues to fight to keep our oceans clean. Last year with honoree Leonardo Dicapiro, Oceana raised 1.4M. Leonardo Dicapiro’s foundation donated an additional 3M to allow Oceana to continue their work to protect the ocean and it’s wildlife.
