The LA Film Fest couldn’t have picked a better movie to start off the week, with Dope the movie premiere directed by Rick Famuyiwa that happened on June 8th, 2015, at the Regal Cinemas L.A. Live. Dope has such a great source of creativity from the cast and crew including A$AP Rocky, Blake Anderson and music curated by Pharrell Williams. All were in attendance to the premiere and after-party that brought out lots of celebrities including Sean Combs, Tyga, and Kylie Jenner. Malcom, played by Shameik Moore, is the lead role in a ‘Superbad’ type coming of age story of a high schooler about to graduate. The celebration for Dope continued at the after-party sponsored by BMW where all of the stars celebrated a great turnout for the movie and the launch of The LA Film Fest. This is the perfect movie to kick off LA Film Fest because it is a great LA story. The Festival focuses on “Los Angeles, a city of abundant creativity, and our programming reflects our city-muse through films”.
The LA Film Fest will go from June 10th-18th, click HERE for the full schedule + Open Road will release Dope the movie on June 19 in the US
