The GLSEN Respect Awards took place on October 23rd, 2015 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire to recognize the exceptional efforts of individual and corporate leaders who have made a significant difference to ensure schools are safe and affirming for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students and their allies. GLSEN is the leading national education organization focused on ensuring safe and affirming schools for all students. Celebrating its 25th year, GLSEN envisions a world in which every child learns to respect and accept all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.
Justin Timberlake and wife Jessica Biel were honored with by GLSEN with the Inspiration Award and said some sweet words on the red carpet. They said – “Could you possibly be more inspired by these young people” and went on to talk about their son and how someday he could grow up to be an inspiring person like these kids. The couple also went on to say that the word ‘tolerance’ is an archaic belief and that no human being should be tolerated, but accepted. Other honorees included Zachary Quinto with the Champion Award, YouTube with the Chairman’s Award and Mars Hallman with the Student Advocate of the Year Award. Additional guests included honorary co-chairs Bob Greenblatt, Marilyn and Jeffrey Katzenberg, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak, and Julia Roberts, as well as JJ Abrams, Sasha Alexander, Stephanie Bauer, Greg Berlanti, Jessica Capshaw, Jason Collins, Dana Delaney, Connor Franta, Kearran Giovanni, Gigi Gorgeous, Todrick Hall, Kingsley, George Kotsiopoulos, Gavin MacIntosh, Trina McGee-Davis, Robbie Rogers, Cody Saintgnue, Kirsten Vangsness, Joe Zee, and many more.
