Riviera 31 at Sofitel is holding a photography exhibition open until June 30th curated by Olivier Picasso, Pablo Picasso’s grandson, and held a well executed cocktail reception on April 23rd in its honor. Guests attended the opening and enjoyed beautiful displays of gourmet food inspired from the exhibition while enjoying the 30-plus photographs at hand on display on display in the hotel’s restaurant, bar and lobby. Olivier Picasso arranged these pictures, taken of respectable painters in their space of work, including his grandfather Pablo and Salvador Dali. It is an interesting perspective, because it is a photograph of an artist creating art, which in itself turns into art – art creating art.
The exhibition has also inspired Collection d’Art, a special menu selection created by Executive Chef Victor Boroda. Chef Boroda draws inspiration from the work of the most famous painters of the 20th Century, whose intimacy and daily life are revealed throughout the exhibition. Menus include signature dishes whimsically aligned with three of the exhibit’s featured art movements: Cubism, Fauvism and Surrealism. Additionally, Riviera 31 Lounge Bar mixologists will feature inspired art cocktails for guests viewing the photographs throughout the run of show. The Collection d’Art three-course, prix fixe menus will be available from April 15th through June 30th, 2015.
