The first-ever global street art fair ‘Street’ debuted in Los Angeles with a VIP opening reception on October 1st at Siren Studios. Whether it is to make a statement or mark your territory, Graffiti has always had a hold over this city of Angels. Committed to bringing the Street Art style to the mainstream community, the concept was dreamed up and made possible by artist, designer and international entrepreneur Jeff Hamilton and Street Art industry leader, LAB ART gallery owner and curator, Iskander Lemseffer. What makes this event special, is that people can actually interact with the artists involved in ‘Street’. Most of these artists including Alec Monopoly, Risk, Odlaw, Mr. E., Greg Auerbach, Clinton Bob, and Annie Preece mask their faces and have to keep a low profile due to the criminal association that comes with graffiting. My two favorite artists from ‘Street’ included Plastic Jesus and Mr. Bonair (instagram: @mr.debonair_art). Following LA’s premiere ‘Street’ edition, the fair will travel internationally, popping up in major cities where the street art movement is alive.
