If you were lucky enough to receive the invite to the go90 app launch, it read to join them for a “special live performance by Funny or Die” and a “surprise celebrity performance”. That definitely caught our attention, so we got ready and headed to the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on September 25th, 2015, not knowing what we were getting ourselves into.
Powered by the Verizon and AOL partnership, go90 is designed for millennials and allows users to access live and on-demand programming in sports, comedy, music, gaming, lifestyle and news. We are still fully trying to figure out what the go90 platform is, but all that we know is that the celebs came out in full force to support it. Star-studded event featured guests including Zoe Saldana, Adrian Grenier, Nina Dobrev, Sanaa Lathan, Gabourey Sidibe, Chrissy Teigen, Emmy Rossum, Emily Osment, Joe Manganiello, Zoey Deutch, Freida Pinto, Christina Milian, Alicia Silverstone, Christian Slater, Hayes Grier, Shaun White, Luke James, Timothy Delaghetto Fousey, and more.
It turns out that the “special live performance by Funny or Die” was a live taping of Between 2 Ferns with host Zach Galifianakis and guests Ted Danson of Cheers, and Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad. If that wasn’t enough, Kanye West himself took over probably one of the smallest stages that he has performed on since Graduation, for an exclusive show. He did not go on a classic Kanye rant because he was saving his voice for his two upcoming shows at the Hollywood Bowl.
