Essence, the preeminent brand for African-American women, kicked off Grammy weekend with its 8th annual Black Women In Music Event. The 2017 Essence Black Women in Music event, sponsored by Lincoln and Absolut, featured special live performances from Erykah Badu and Tiwa Savage. Erykah Badu, whose debut album Baduizm celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The evening featured performances by honoree Badu, as well as Nigerian singer songwriter Tiwa Savage, and a special award presentation from Solange. The modern glam stage and event design was conceptualized and created by April Luca, Owner of Gold Sky Productions (GSP). Luca has successfully produced events within the fashion, music, gaming, sports and entertainment industries. Additional guests include Chante Adams, BJ The Chicago Kid, Bibi Bourelly, Kandi Burress, Chloe & Halle, Kiersey Clemons, Keyshia Cole, Jimi Cravity, Gabrielle Dennis, DJ Cassidy, DJ Soupamodel, Estelle, Faith Evans, Melanie Fiona, Vivica Fox and more.
