Sourcing Los Angeles Culture

Beyond The Streets Showcases the Vandalism, Ambition, and Rebellion of the World’s Most Recognizable Modern Art Movement

For its inaugural show in Los Angeles, Beyond The Streets pays homage to its host city’s role as a diverse epicenter of art and culture of both past and present. Curator Roger Gastman, who is an author and historian, said “Beyond The Streets has been a real motherf**cker, 25 years in the making.” Some of the most impactful artists learned their trade on the streets, Beyond The Streets demonstrates their role into shaping our culture by breaking the law and even risking their lives. Over 100 artists are featured, including Shepard Fairey, Jason REVOK, FUTURA 2000, LADY PINK, Lee Quiñones, INVADER, HAZE, SWOON, Guerrilla Girls, Barry McGee, Stephen Powers, CHAZ, FAILE, Kenny Scharf, Dash Snow, Jenny Holzer, C.R. Stecyk III, Felipe Pantone, Maripol, RETNA, Gordon Matta-Clark, Martha Cooper, TAKI 183 plus Dennis Hopper, Takashi Murakami, Mark Mothersbaugh and many more iconic artists throughout 40,000+ square feet of industrial indoor and outdoor space. The exhibition also offers dynamic programming in the form of performances, lectures and films, along with a partnership with non-profit STOKED Mentoring and adidas Skateboarding to provide educational workshops for the inner-city youth of LA. A curated gift shop features limited-edition prints, books and collectibles, including a capsule collection developed with adidas Skateboarding, artist-edition Montana Colors spray paint cans featuring Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, and limited-edition Shepard Fairey fiberglass chairs by Modernica. The one-of-a-kind, touring Beyond The Streets exhibition debuts in on May 6, 2018 and will run through July 6, 2018 located at 1667 N Main St, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Beyond The Streets will then head to New York City with more global locations to be announced.
