On Wednesday, July 10, Athleta, an official ESPYS sponsor, hosted the inaugural Power of She Luncheon at The Maybourne in Beverly Hills. Co-hosted by actress, activist, and Angel City FC investor Sophia Bush, and ESPN multimedia journalist Ari Chambers, the event highlighted nominees for the ESPYS Best College Athlete Women’s Sports, an award sponsored by Athleta. The luncheon featured inspiring conversations with select nominees for this year’s Best College Athlete Women’s Sports Award including Haleigh Bryant (LSU Gymnastics), Sarah Franklin (Wisconsin Volleyball) and Izzy Scane (Northwestern Lacrosse), as well as Athleta Power of She Collective member, gold medal para snowboarder and fellow 2024 ESPYS nominee, Brenna Huckaby.
Collectively, the women discussed leadership, self confidence, inclusivity, teamwork and the positive impact sports have on girls and women, both on and off the field of play. Following the panel, Athleta unveiled a $100K donation to the Women’s Sports Foundation via Athleta’s Power of She Fund. Guests at the luncheon included celebrated athletes, brand executives, press, and VIPs including Robin Arzón (Head Instructor of Peloton), Jessie Diggins (Olympic cross country skier), and Christine Monjer (President, LA Sparks).
