The 2018 SAMS Gala was hosted by Amber Heard, who spoke about her humanitarian need to assist and support the Syrian refugees. The Syrian American Medical Society is a global relief organization that is working on the front lines of crisis relief in Syria, neighboring countries, and beyond to save lives and alleviate suffering. Amber shared her experience having recently returned from a medical mission to Jordan with SAMS. She shared her story and cried as she urged the crowd to support her with SAMS. She shared a story about a little girl that touched her, and it made her want to come back and spread the awareness of SAMS and how it helps others in need and these refugees. Five Syrian refugees, ages 12- 17, living in refugee camps in Lebanon attended the event. They traveled to the U.S. to participate in a robotics competition in Kentucky. Kourtney Kardashian and her Boyfriend, Younes Bendjima supported. They stayed until the very end. The couple were very affectionate and sat in the VIP section and listened to Amber speak. Thoughtfully gifts were given to guests who support the organization.
