Amazon Prime Video got bunnified for the release of their new docuseries “American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story,” which combines archival footage, pulling from thousands of hours from Hefner’s personal archives; interviews with notable figures including Jesse Jackson, Gene Simmons and Bill Maher; and cinematic reenactments. Hugh Hefner is a remarkable figure who has pushed the racial boundaries through his media platform. The 90-year-old Hefner, who will celebrate his 91st birthday on April 9th, has been deeply involved in the development and production of American Playboy, imbuing the series with rich first-person accounts and never-before-told stories.

To celebrate this in-depth look at history, Amazon Prime threw a star-studded event at the iconic Playboy Mansion, which started with a screening in Hugh Hefner’s private screening room. Cooper Hefner, Hugh’s soon and the Chief Creative Officer of Playboy was in great spirit throughout the evening. Guests enjoyed specialty cocktails provided by Hilhaven Lodge such as the “Mr. Playboy” and “The Centerfold” and enjoyed music spun by DJ Myles Hendrik. Former Playmates and guests alike delighted in being on their very own life-size Playboy cover in a photo moment. Guests in attendance included: Orlando Bloom, Jared Leto, Brett Ratner, Boris Kodjoe, Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett, Miguel, Diego Boneta, Lindsey Pelas, Lola Kirke, Natalie Morales, Beau Mirchoff, Jax Taylor, Sheana Marie, Nolan Funk, Kurtwood Smith, Taryn Manning and more joined Conrad Riggs (Head of Unscripted, Amazon Originals), Albert Cheng (COO, Amazon Studios), Cooper Hefner (Chief Creative Officer, Playboy Enterprises) and series executive producers Stephen David, Peter Jaysen, and Dick Rosenzweig.

American Playboy will premiere on Friday, April 7, 2017 on Amazon Prime Video.
