Usher and Jonni Cheatwood Join Yoobi to Launch the YoobixUsher Collection at Siren Studios

In celebration of YoobixUsher, Yoobi–a colorful, upbeat and vibrant brand of school supplies  hosted a rooftop soiree on Thursday, July 9 at Siren Studios LA. Yoobi means “one for you, one for me” and for every item purchased, Yoobi donates another to a classroom in need right here in the U.S. Instead of the ordinary number two pencil, Yoobi offers up a brand new back-to-school collection specially curated by Grammy nominated megastar Usher and designed by Brazilian visual artist Jonni Cheatwood. The collection mixes street smarts with school smarts and incorporates five new prints and 20 new products.

Yoobi and Usher joined forces to create a limited edition collection giving kids in need the tools necessary for creative expression. Usher, a longtime advocate of education founded Usher’s New Look in 1999, a public charity dedicated to bridging the gap between despair and success for young people. Yoobi extends far beyond its cool factor having impacted more than 660,000 kids across america with its motto “You buy Yoobi gives.” From three ring binders and lanyards, to backpack pencil cases and composition notebooks this collection is made to put the fun back into learning.

Walking into the venue you are greeted with pops of lime green and neon pink. A table is set up to the left alongside a full-size map of the united states plastered to the wall. The map has a bright pink pin marking 30 resource centers that Yoobi donates to when you make a purchase. Tonight, when you fill out a small card with an encouraging message to a student, Yoobi will donate a classroom pack on your behalf to whichever center you choose. A photo booth is perched in the back for guests to capture moments for the gram and Jonni Cheatwood gears up for a live painting session. Treats for the evening included a buffet of Rasta Tacos and an open bar full of jalapeño margaritas, summer cosmos, and rosé.

The energy was amazing all night. Just what you would expect from a brand like Yoobi. When Usher arrived, the atmosphere turned up another notch. He showed off the new collection, joined Jonni Cheatwood to paint a full blank canvas and took photos with just about everyone. Student leaders from Usher’s New Look volunteered to work the event and made sure guests knew the mission of Yoobi. A large part of what students learn in this program is how to facilitate community service projects. With 100% graduation rates these students go on to spread the leadership and education values they’ve learned with their communities. The celebration ended with everyone receiving a gift bag with tons of items from the new collection.

Yoobi X Usher is available for purchase on Yoobi.com and in Target stores nationwide. Not only are the products great for students but they are jazzy enough to add to your home or office stationary. Check out the full line HERE
