October has begun and as a result, a swarm of spooky, seasonal activities has risen from the grave. One of the shining stars is Nights of the Jack, a mile-long immersive trail that invites you to explore a plethora of Halloween-themed installations and activities.
Set at King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas, this event has quite a lot to offer for all ages – when you first step foot onto the premises, you will find yourself greeted by vendors, food trucks, carnival games, face painting, and much more. There’s a live pumpkin carver to watch, a psychic you can visit, and plenty of photo ops including a red carpet, installations, and stand ins. Kids can play in the corn maze while adults enjoy alcoholic beverages at one of the two “Spookeasy” bars. This is all before you even start the walk.
The trail is, to be perfectly honest, absolutely mind blowing. Besides a plethora of beautifully carved and illuminated jack-o-lanterns along the path, the team behind Nights of the Jack have partnered with Govee to craft a series of highly elaborate sets and dazzling light shows that are spread throughout the grounds. Skeleton projections dance along buildings, lights twinkle to Halloween-themed music, and dinosaurs made of pumpkins roam the land. Installation themes range from all over as friends from Bikini Bottom (including SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward) are present as well as movie monsters like Dracula and Creature From the Black Lagoon. There are even multi-sensory components, like snowfall, that kids and adults will both enjoy.
If you want the Halloween atmosphere with none of the scares, this is the event for you. Don’t forget to stop by the souvenir shop as they offer special glasses that enhance the lights!
Tickets can be purchased here. Nights of the Jack is open on select dates Sep 27 – Nov 2.
