A Jonas brother, a handful of hipsters, and a selection of skaters, the LA Woman presented by Oakley: In Residence brought quite the eclectic crowd.
The all female photography exhibition, curated by Amber DiAnda, celebrates our beloved LA city and female skateboarders that capture our city from the serenity of nature to the dirty streets of downtown. My personal favorite was a shot by Magdalena Wosinka, a Polish photographer who perfectly captures a youthful California endless summer in her retrolooking photography.
The event failed to disappoint with tunes by Allie Teliz and gourmet tacos from Border Grill, by celebrity chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger. The gallery featured just seven prints and a video installation, and it left me wanting more. I wish there was more wall space and photography featured in the exhibition, but the minimalism factor is what kept my interest. Since there were so few prints, I was able to look at each one and admire the detail in each photograph.
This LA Woman left Oakley with a belly full of tacos and a spurt of inspiration from all the talented, female, artists.
