Tracey Russell, Chief Executive of LA Marathon LLC, started the 2015 LA Marathon Press Conference today with lots of useful information and tips on the race. This is the second year that the LA Marathon is officially sold out with 26,000 people running from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica Beach. There will be 176 legacies running for this years 30th LA Marathon, which means that they will have completed this run exactly 30 times ever since the LA Marathon began. The start of the run was moved 30 minutes earlier to 6:55 am to avoid this weekend’s heatwave. Many precautions have been made due to high temperatures. There will be 32 rescue ambulances throughout the course, bicycle and motorcycle teams, buses with air conditioning and 24 aid stations with water and gatorade. Dr. Glenn Ault, who is the medical supervisor for the LA Marathon said that people should start hydrating as soon as they can by starting today. A clever tool that the team is using to keep people hydrated is a fire apparatus that attaches to fire hydrant to create a misting spray for runners. Everyone can connect and stay updated with The La Marathon through @UnifiedLA.
