Are You A Youtuber? Here’s Some Important Advice

Being a YouTuber is no easy task and takes a lot of work. If you’re not putting in the time and effort, you’re not going to see any results. Here are some important tips to help you succeed as a YouTuber.

Ensure High-Quality Videos

Whether you’re a vlogger, gamer, or beauty guru, it’s important to ensure your videos are of the highest possible quality. We all know: the higher the quality – the better experience for viewers and the more likely it is they’ll watch and like your content! Always use the best video editing software available and do not settle for anything less. Viewers pay more attention to details and providing them with high-definition content improves your view and subscription rate.

If you’re into gaming, that means finding a good enough camera (not necessarily expensive) that can capture what’s happening on screen while still giving an accurate reflection of how you were feeling at the time. Also, using a Green Screen (or Blue if you’re lucky!) backdrop ensures high-quality videos by removing any messy background distractions. As for bloggers, make sure you have excellent editing software to help chop and change your footage until it looks as good as possible. For beauty gurus, invest in some good quality lighting and make sure to film in a clutter-free space.

Be Consistent

Consistency is vital as a YouTuber: viewers will quickly lose interest if you’re not uploading regularly! As a general rule, we’d recommend uploading at least once a week – but twice or even three times would be even better. If you can’t manage that much content, try to at least stick to a schedule so viewers know when they can expect new videos from you. In addition, try to maintain the same style throughout your videos. Not only will this retain your viewers, but it’ll also help build up a reputation and following – leading to more likes and subscribers. A great example of this is Zoe Sugg (Zoella) who uploads beauty and fashion videos almost every day yet still maintains the same style throughout. The main point here is f you want viewers, give them something worth watching consistently.

Use Better Thumbnails

The sea of cluttered thumbnails you see on YouTube can be overwhelming, but they’re actually one of the most important factors in how many views a video gets. You want something that jumps out so people click on it without even knowing what’s waiting for them! This means choosing an eye-catching image that represents your video well or creating a short teaser that promises excitement within the clip itself. Using Zoella as an example again, the video for her ‘Magic & Mayhem Palette’ has a thumbnail that uses the same vibrant colors found in the eyeshadow palette itself. Also, make sure that the thumbnail image accurately represents the clip content. Do not mislead viewers with thumbnails that are not even shown on the clip. You might get away with using this scheme, but sooner or later, viewers will notice this and this will badly hurt your reputation. That said, choose the best thumbnails you can pick out of your videos.

Promote, Promote, Promote!

No one’s going to find your content if you don’t tell them about it! Make sure to promote your videos on all of your social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and even on other websites – as long as it’s relevant. You could also consider paid advertising through YouTube or Google AdWords which will help get your video in front of even more people. An easy way to increase viewership is by including a link to your latest video in the description box below your profile picture on YouTube. This way, viewers can easily find and watch your content with just a few clicks.

Make Interesting and Engaging Content

When you are making your content, it should be interesting. You can’t just go on camera and do what’s expected of you. Instead, you have to rise above everyone else who is doing the same thing as you. In order to keep people watching, you need to create engaging content. This means making sure your videos are interesting, informative, and entertaining. You can do this by mixing up your content types, keeping things fresh and new. Try including vlogs, tutorials, reviews, unboxings, and more. And make sure to interact with your viewers – ask them for their thoughts and opinions, and respond to their comments. Another important thing to remember when creating a video is that your videos should always end on a high note or interesting idea/thought that leaves people wanting more – also known as “call-to-action”.

Finally, here’s the most important thing about making engaging content: in everything you do, do not remove fun out of the equation. Having fun allows for better material most importantly because it will show in your material. Viewers can identify and relate with you when you are genuinely having fun with what you do.

Stay True to Your Viewers

It’s important to stay true to your viewers and be genuine in your content. Don’t try to be someone you’re not – people will see through it and they won’t stick around for long. Be yourself, and let your personality shine through in your videos. This will help you build a loyal following who will continue to watch your videos and support you.

Be Patient

If you plan on turning your channel into something big, good things don’t happen overnight. You might be thinking that having 100 subscribers would mean that you’re already successful but to the mass majority of viewers, it’s not significant at all. So unless you have a really dedicated group of friends and family who will always subscribe to your channel, never expect huge growth right off the bat. It takes time for people to find videos through different methods so if at first you don’t succeed keep trying! There are occasional videos that may get over 1 million views within the first day but these are extraordinary cases. The point here is it doesn’t matter if no one subscribes to your channel because eventually, they will.

These are just a few pieces of advice to keep in mind as a Youtuber, whether you are a newbie or not. Remember to always put quality first and to be patient – it takes time to build up a following on YouTube. Keep working and believe in yourself. Good luck!
