Women in Film, Los Angeles Celebrated The 2015 Crystal + Lucy Awards Honoring Nicole Kidman

It was a night of glamour at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles, on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, for the official 2015 Crystal + Lucy Awards presented by Max Mara, Tiffany & CO., and BMW of North America. Women in Film is an organization that focuses on establishing access for current and future generations of women to explore and pursue careers in all fields of the entertainment industry. 2015 Crystal + Lucy Awards honoree of the night, Nicole Kidman, said that she started off in the entertainment industry at the young age of 14. Her pal Naomi Watts presented her with the The Crystal Award for Excellence in Film. During Nicole Kidman’s acceptance speech, she shared the story of turning down a part from Jane Campion earlier in her career that involved wearing a shower cap and kissing a girl. In turn, she decided to surprise the audience by finally playing the part and kissing her good friend and presenter Naomi Watts on-stage in shower cap (see picture below)

Kristen Stewart and Stephenie Meyer took part in a special presentation during the program recognizing eight aspiring filmmakers who were part of the The Storytellers – New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga project and awarded them with plaques on behalf of Women In Film. Another exciting moment which really shows Women’s in Film’s dedication to the arts is when they handed their largest scholarship ever provided to date of $25,000 to a single gifted student. The evening brought out the elite for women in the entertainment industry, Sandra Bullock even joked on-stage, and said “there’s so much power in this room right now that we’re all going to be on the same menstrual cycle after tonight.”
