HUF Los Angeles Flagship Store Opening Party w/ Flea from The Red Hot Chili Peppers

After having a killer set up at the Agenda Show in Long Beach, HUF reopened its doors on Fairfax in Los Angeles after a 4-year hiatus. The private opening took place on Friday, July 10th, and brought out a lively crowd of celebrities, friends, family, and media at 410 N Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036.

During the event, guests were able to check out the notorious middle finger sculpture made of recycled, used skateboard mosaic pieces by Japanese artist Haroshi on display. We asked Keith Hufnagel who founded HUF what was the inspiration behind the middle finger symbol, and he said that it is the skateboarding attitude and mentality. The music was provided by a very special DJ set from HUF’s very own Cleanwhitelinens and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Yes, you read it right, the legendary bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers himself. He was accompanied by Bob Forrest, who you might know as one of the drug counselors in most of Dr. Drew’s rehab shows.

We dug in more into that friendship, and realized that Forrest was a drug buddy and close friend to Anthony Keidis and Flea. Bob Forrest has performed many times with the Red Hot Chili Peppers dating back to the mid-1980s and most recently in 2009 at an awards event honoring Kiedis for his commitment to helping other addicts with the addiction and recovery process.

Other key attendees included Trinidad James, Josh Madden, Mike Carroll, Vinny Ponte, Chris Keefe, artist Cali Dewitt, writer Andrew Watt, Mega of Black Scale, Dr. Romanelli, Dom Deluca of Brooklyn Projects, Yaniv Evan of Powerplant, HUF founder Keith Hufnagel, and HUF team riders Peter Ramondetta, Brad Cromer, Kevin Terpening, and Austyn Gillette.
