Hollywood Love Is Dead: The Celebrity Breakups Of 2019

A number of celebrity couples have called it quits so far this year, and countless more are rumored to be breaking up or cheating. It’s impossible to keep up with the Hollywood rumor mill, but thanks to social media, there are some confirmed celebrity breakups.

Of course, one couple has dominated the headlines more than any other: Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth.

After years of on-again, off-again dating and engagements, the couple finally tied the knot on New Years Eve. They lasted eight months. Truly, Hollywood love is dead.

Read on to find out what Miley and Liam had to say about their breakup. Then, keep reading for a rundown of the biggest celebrity breakups of 2019 — so far.

Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth Breakup

Despite their rocky relationship history, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth seemed to have found a happily ever after to their Hollywood love story. But evidently, the honeymoon phase was rather short-lived. Following a series of rumors that hinted at the couple’s split, the pair broke their silence and confirmed their breakup on social media — much to the dismay of fans.

The couple first met in 2009 and finally tied the knot in December 2018. Although the average amount spent on a traditional wedding is $35,329 (with the reception alone running $13,106), many celebrities choose to take the over-the-top route when planning their nuptials. Miley and Liam took the road less traveled, choosing to be wed in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family members. But regardless of how much money was spent or how many guests were invited, their marriage evidently could not be salvaged.

As a spokesperson for Cyrus told E!, “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

The news elicited shock and sadness from many fans on Twitter and Instagram. The timing, many have noted, is interesting, given the fact that statements were released shortly after Cyrus was spotted kissing Brody Jenner’s ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter during a beach vacation — with her wedding band noticeably absent from her left hand. That being said, Miley strongly denied that infidelity had anything to do with the split.

Every year more than 827,000 divorces occur, and celebrity marriages seem especially likely to end, and fast.

Katie Holmes & Jamie Foxx

Actress Katie Holmes, who famously divorced Tom Cruise, had been dating actor Jamie Foxx for six years before their breakup over the summer. Interestingly, the Hollywood rumor mill claims that Holmes has since started dating Liam Hemsworth himself, the second-most famous Hemsworth brother.

Antoni Porowski & Trace Lehnhoff

You may not know the name Trace Lehnhoff, but you probably do know (and love) Antoni from the “Queer Eye” reboot on Netflix, which recently released its fourth incredible season. Antoni broke up with his beau this year and set off a round of speculation after posting flirty (and very misleading) photos with his new sweetheart, Jonathan Van Ness, on Instagram.

Unfortunately for the world, Antoni and Jonathan are NOT dating.

Cole Sprouse & Lili Reinhart

“Riverdale” fans despair, this showmance couple broke up this year, too.

Bradley Cooper & Irinia Shayk

After Bradley Cooper went gaga over Gaga at the Academy Awards, the world started the “A Star Is Born” co-stars hard. The on-screen couple seemed so in love (and Shayk so uncomfortable!) during that unforgettable live performance. Not long after, Cooper and Shayk officially called it quits.

We’re still waiting for Cooper and Lady Gaga to get engaged.

Of course, they would probably just get divorced anyway.
