Sourcing Los Angeles Culture

BEYOND THE STREETS Opens Permanent Los Angeles Physical Storefront and Exhibition Space

Global art sensation BEYOND THE STREETS is best known for being art-driven, cultural, and educational, covering the largest art movements while honoring the trailblazers and the unorthodox. As of September 2022, BEYOND THE STREETS will call La Brea Avenue home with a physical storefront and exhibition space that will serve as a cultural hub for the community of Los Angeles where all are welcome. Founded by graffiti historian and urban anthropologist, Roger Gastman, BEYOND THE STREETS showcases the greatest contemporary and up-and-coming artists while challenging conventional notions of what constitutes art.

The BEYOND THE STREETS gallery will open its doors for the first time with the debut of POST GRAFFITI, an inaugural exhibition that tells the visual story of the graffiti revolution, through the early ambitions of artists like FUTURA2000, CRASH, Eric HAZE, LADY PINK, and Kenny Scharf, who laid the groundwork for the movement – to the artists of the present who draw energy from the international community of graffiti writing and street culture. POST GRAFFITI is anchored by a virtuoso ensemble of celebrated artists that include Blake Kunin, CHITO, Conor Harrington, CRASH, Eric HAZE, Felipe Pantone, FUTURA2000, Gregory Rick, Katsu, Kenny Scharf, LADY PINK, Madsaki, Maya Hayuk, Nehemiah Cisneros, Ozzie Jaurez, Othelo Gervacio, Paul Flores, Paul Insect, POSE, Timothy Curtis, and Todd James.

In addition to the gallery, the BEYOND THE STREETS locale will also feature a curated gift shop where visitors will be greeted by a unique retail experience in partnership with Vista – the design and marketing partner to millions of small business and entrepreneurs around the world. The gift shop will feature exciting, limited-edition products from BEYOND THE STREETS, Vista, and their collaborators. With events, enticing brand pop-ups, and artist activations, the BEYOND THE STREETS flagship will serve as a backdrop for creativity and community, all powered by Vista.
