In conjunction with seminal art publication Juxtapoz celebrating its 200th issue, adidas Skateboarding and LA-based artist David M. Cook aka Bonethrower commemorated the release of their limited edition footwear and apparel collection with a private party and art exhibit in Los Angeles. Curated by Bonethrower, this exclusive engagement transformed the space at Los Angeles’ Rhabbitat into a surreal homage to his fictional land of YOD, complete with iconic large-form characters and iconography; a mural painted by Bonethrower; the adidas Skateboarding x Bonethrower collection on display; and a hypnotic light show and staging. Best known for his unique style and take on mysticism and memento mori, the adidas Skateboarding x Bonethrower collaboration channels Bonethrower’s immersive background in psychedelic art, skateboarding, and DIY culture for this limited edition footwear and apparel collection, which includes a customized Matchcourt shoe, track jacket, a snapback hat, t-shirt and longsleeve tee. Attendees received autographed posters and decks, as well as complimentary t-shirts and longsleeves, celebrating the capsule. Additionally, the crowd was packed with VIP press members, adidas Pro Rider Pete Eldridge, as well as Bonethrower and his friends, who provided the event’s soundtrack.
