Today, more and more people start using laptops instead of their computers for working, watching movies or playing casino video games. It’s not so easy to find the right model. To select your laptop, pay attention to these factors.

Screen Diagonal

The screen diagonal is one of the defining characteristics of the deviceю It determines the size of the laptop itself. Miniature netbooks have a screen the size of an envelope for letters is 11″, and the largest laptops are 17″. It is very little by today’s standards. Yet, there are bigger models.

So, if you work with graphics and are accustomed to large monitors, do not look for a giant laptop. Better choose 17″ and use it in conjunction with an external monitor where possible.

Screen Type

It is impossible to say with certainty that one technology is better than another. Progress has smoothed the characteristics of types of screens. Contrary to the popular myth, the type of screen has little effect on the ability to work with a laptop in bright outdoor lighting. It’s more important to coat the screen and the maximum brightness of the LED backlight.

Glossy coating provides richer colors and better contrast, but in bright light it will glare, interfering with the perception of the image on the screen. For work outdoors or in a bright room, a screen with a matte finish is better.

Manufacturers do not specify the maximum brightness of the backlight, and this parameter can only be estimated experimentally.

Screen Resolution

Screen resolution defines how many pixels the screen matrix consists of. For example, 1366×768 resolution means that the matrix has 1366 horizontal and 768 vertical pixels. The resolution is responsible for the clarity and detail of the image, the higher it is, the better.

Yet, this is only true for screens of the same diagonal. So, a resolution of 1366×768 will be enough for the 14″ screen, but not for 17″. To avoid confusion in all this, it is more convenient to use pixel density. It determines how many pixels per inch of the laptop screen without reference to its diagonal. The minimum required for comfortable work is 100 ppi (“pixels per inch”).

If you work with graphics, fine text or detailed images choose the screen with the pixel density of 150-200 ppi. For greater density to chase much sense, the difference in image quality at 200 ppi and 300 ppi you can see only with a magnifying glass, but the load on the video processor’s high resolution increases greatly.
