Lupus LA largest fundraising event took place this Saturday, June 6th, 2015, for The Orange Ball: A Night of Superheroes at the iconic New York Street lot at Fox Studios. Handsome as ever Michael B. Jordan hosted this gala, which hits close to home since his mom has been suffering with this disease. He said, “As an actor I’m lucky enough to wear a costume as a member of The Fantastic Four… but I can think of no greater superhero than my mom.” He was also honored with The Loop Award Lupus, which is given to individuals who strive to make the world better for those living with lupus. L.A. council member Toni Braxton thought that the superhero theme was fitting for the event as a Lupus survivor herself. Guests enjoyed epic performances from singer Serayah, from the hit Fox Series Empire and the one and only Seal. The elegant outdoor street party also featured live entertainment from Cirque Bezerk, fantastic food from Urban Oven, Mexicalibi, and Cousin’s Main Lobster food trucks, dessert from Susie Cakes, and raffle giveaways that included a trip to Costa Rica, a Lakers VIP package and more. Specialty drinks were provided by Boyd & Blair, Revel Spirits, Stella Rosa Wine and Hint Water. The event raised $575,000 for lupus research and local patient programs. To date, Lupus LA’s Orange Ball has raised over $4 million in total since the year 2000.
