Sprinkles Cupcakes Celebrates 10 Years and 25,000,000 Red Velvets!

In 2003, when Candace and Charles (founders of Sprinkles) were searching for the perfect space in Los Angeles to launch their business, dozens of landlords hung up on them after hearing “we’re opening a cupcake shop.” A cupcake shop had never existed and landlords were skeptical of this concept which had never been tested. When Sprinkles finally opened the world’s first cupcake bakery on April 13, 2005 at its flagship store in Beverly Hills, it sold out within a few a couple hours.

Ten years later, Sprinkles celebrates its 10th anniversary on April 13, 2015. They have sold 25,000,000 red velvet cupcakes since 2005. In honor of its anniversary, Sprinkles gifted a free cupcake to every customer all day at its shops nationwide. The Mayor of Beverly Hills, Dr. Julian Gold, joined the festivities and hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Beverly Hills bakery with Founders Candace and Charles. Additionally, Sprinkles debuted “the Sprinkle”, a cheery birthday cake loaded with rainbow sprinkles.
