Rick Ross treated Los Angeles to an exclusive listening of his upcoming album “Black Market” inside the sound space of Sonos Studios. Doors opened at 7PM for fans to mingle amongst free flowing champagne and when Rozay arrived out on stage, he was seated in a gold-trimmed leather throne (yes a throne) with three bottles of champagne next to him on a small side table. The atmosphere was set for pure boss behavior as we got a special tease of five tracks from the new album.
He talked us through the motivation behind certain songs and his excitement for the new project as a whole. The new record boasts collabs with heavy hitters like Nas, John Legend, Future and Mary J. Blige. As a special takeaway there were custom printed “Black Market” bandanas up for grabs. The best part about these is that if you fold them in half, it looks like you’re wearing Ross’ beard! Corny? Well consider me prepared for the Coachella dessert next year!
As the night closed and Rick Ross was thanking all the fans and the label for making things come together we got a surprise appearance from Meek Mill. He stayed off to the side for the remainder of Ross’ speech but came to mingle in the crowd afterwards. I am most excited to hear the other features on the album like Very Best with Mary J. Blige and Can’t Say No with Mariah Carey. Just in time for holiday listening “Black Market” is due out December 4th on Def Jam Records.
