Inside The Coach X HYPEBEAST Men’s Event at The Grove

On Thursday, October 15, Coach at The Grove invited us out to mingle amongst LA’s style-envied socialites to celebrate the launch of their new fall Men’s collection. A carefully curated line of “EssentialsCoach x HYPEBEAST is a fresh alliance that merges a more clean cut Coach, with the gritty basics and natural color waves popular in the HYPEBEAST world. Complete with a DJ, shot samples of Macallan Whiskey and vegan hors d’oeuvres served up by Chef Ari Taymor the evening was a night to recognize just how powerful simplicity can be.

The store was packed with “HYPEBEAST” from all angles and looking around one thing was evident–this was not the same Coach that we knew from back in the early 2000s. I remember the signature “C” print across satchels, messenger bags and wallet wristlets everywhere for a good part of my teenage years. Now, under the guidance of Executive Creative Director Stuart Vevers, Coach is embracing a more laid back and uncomplicated kind of feel.

Writer and brand strategist Josh Madden moderated a panel  with HYPEBEAST Managing Editor Alexander Lendrum, Oakland rapper G-Eazy, Chef Ari Taymor, and DJ/Producer Trevor Skeet to discuss their ideas behind style “Essentials” for the fall.  Each of these guys constructed lay flats to show off the items they deem absolutely necessary in their everyday lives. Showcased in the front of the store these gave everyone a realistic view of how the new Coach accessories can become staples in your day-to-day wardrobe. For these “HYPEBEAST” some “Essentials” they spoke about were everything from laptops and kitchen knives, to “The Total Pillow” and Valium for the plane rides.

If you’re constantly traveling with items like these, it’s a good idea to invest in a quality duffle bag or backpack to stash them in. For the stylish guy on the go this new Coach line is your destination for genuine leather accessories including wallets and even traditional Dopp kits. You can get any or all of these in timeless colors like sepia, ochre and chocolate brown, black and my personal favorite surplus green.

This new Men’s collection marks the debut of the first men’s line from Coach since its inception in the 40s. Fashion tends to recycle itself so the classic feels from back then are still relevant in the luxury spreads we see today. With streetwear becoming more and more popular joining forces with HYPEBEAST was a smart move to reposition Coach as a leading authority in all things luxury.
