Dobel Tequila and Perry Farrell Host Dinner and Drinks at Bagatelle

This weekend I was introduced to Dobel Tequila courtesy of Jane’s Addiction frontman and Lollapalooza  creator Perry Farrell. The rock n roll icon hosted an intimate four course dining experience prepared by Chef Robert Liberato at Bagatelle Los Angeles. Throughout the evening I had the chance to mingle amongst some of the most interesting people, try oysters for the first time and talk exclusively with Perry Farrell on his relationship with the luxury spirit.

As a special amouz-bouche we were served “Kusshi Oysters.” I’m not big on seafood, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to have these tonight paired with a “Facing West” cocktail. This drink was not only delicious and refreshing but also delightfully presented. Made with Maestro Dobel Silver Tequila and the freshest ingredients like watermelon and raw coconut water, this cocktail was tropical, light and undeniably one of my favorites.

Right before the main course I had the opportunity to chat with Perry about Dobel Tequila. For him he knew he wanted to get on board with the brand after tasting it for the first time. He described it as having a very distinct vanilla and accounts Dobel’s unique blend of aged expressions for hooking him. When asked how he personally preferred to take his tequila, he said “on the rocks, keep it simple, you don’t have to hide the taste.”

The entire party was dealt shots of the different expressions between courses so I had the chance to taste the distinction Perry emphasized and from my experience, I would have to agree with him. After our talk I went back to my seat to enjoy “Hudson Valley Duck” and “Reposado Infused Chocolate Torte” paired with a “Power Ballad” cocktail.

Out of all the crafted cocktails served throughout the night, the “Clever Hook” was hands down the best. I expected it to be made with champagne but it was simply smooth tequila well mixed amongst the likes of grapefruit juice and rose water then gracefully served in a champagne flute. As a parting gift we were given a bottle of Dobel Diamanté encased in a Limited Edition Drum Case along with recipe cards for DIY mixing. After tonight I have officially decided to step my tequila game up so these will come in handy for my next pregame affair.
