On November 15th, Capitol Records hosted a gala in Hollywood to celebrate its 75th Anniversary. The star-studded event honored Capitol Records’ historic contributions to music and popular culture and celebrated the artists who helped make this happen. Celebrities in attendance included Katy Perry, Niall Horan, 5 Seconds of Summer, Beck, Halsey and Neil Diamond, among many others. Earlier in the day, Capitol Records became the first record company to be honored by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce with a Star of Recognition on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Katy Perry spoke at the ceremony, alongside Capitol Music Group Chairman & CEO, Steve Barnett and Universal Music Group Chairman & CEO, Lucian Grainge. Additionally, the Los Angeles City Council presented Capitol Records with a resolution declaring November 15 Capitol Records Day in the city.
