August Getty, member of the Getty Oil family, took Los Angeles by storm this Wednesday evening, November 11th, with his Spring Summer 2016 Presentation titled “The Thread Of Man”. August teamed up with photographer David LaChapelle, who is known for his over the top design sets, for this special show that took place at Universal Studios.

Using the skin tone of five iconic women as a foundation, August has built the structure, color palette and mood of this luxurious SS16 collection. A female army representing strength and empowerment is at the heart of this collection; innately sexy clothes such as body conscious cut-out dresses interwoven with those indicative of a more innocent sensuality and multiple levels of modesty. The designer has played with a full spectrum of lengths to further illustrate the endlessly variable personalities and lives of those he dresses and lives amongst. Semi-uniformity is evident in scuba silhouettes, Opera coats and lantern sleeves; playing into a postmodernist vision of how our future society may look and dress.

The show was led by model Gigi Gorgeous, and was absolutely splendid. The rawness of August Getty’s “The Thread Of Man” with the clash of David LaChappelle’s bright, over the top Vegas Strip looking installment made for a perfect collaboration.
