amfAR Raises More Than $2 Million at Eighth Annual Los Angeles Gala with Honoree Julia Roberts

Last night Ron Burkle’s Historic Green Acres Estate was buzzing with celebrities for the eighth annual amfAR Gala Los Angeles. Host James Corden sang a surprise duet with Coldplay’s Chris Martin, whose set also included serenades to Julia Roberts of Roy Orbison’s “Pretty Woman” and an original tune, titled “When Julia Makes You Smile.” Fergie also performed hits including “Big Girls Don’t Cry” along with a track from her new album, “Double Dutchess.” Corden had the audience in nervous laughter during his opening monologue, cracking jokes about Harvey Weinstein. The A-list crowd including Kate Hudson, Goldie Hawn, Heidi Klum, Sean Penn, Jesse Metcalfe, Cara Santana, Dita Von Teese, Ashley Greene, Sophia Bush, sipped on Belvedere Vodka signature cocktails while enjoying their gorgeous SoCal surroundings. Tom Hanks presented Julia Roberts with amfAR’s Award of Courage. He continuously dropped “f-bombs” in his speech and referred to every person who was top in their field as “the Julia Roberts of x.” Hanks also commented on Roberts’ love for her family, noting that she arrives late to shoots and leaves early because family is the only thing she really cares about.
