Hey, we get it – Los Angeles is a big city. Not only are there endless opportunities for coffee stops, beach visits, and celebrity sightings, but the metropolis also boasts an absolutely massive catalogue of events. Even on a daily basis, the list of things to do can certainly seem a little overwhelming at times.
Somewhere, among the hazy smog that engulfs the city, lies a hotbed of culture and entertainment – you just have to sift through the haze to find what’s best. That’s why we over at LA Guestlist have done the work for you and put together the seven hottest, freshest, and most Los Angeles events we could find for you in the week of August 14th – August 20th. Something for you each and every night.
We’ll try not to break your wallet, either.
MONDAY, AUGUST 14th
School Night LA is one of the best curated recurring concert programs available in Los Angeles, returning to Bardot in Hollywood each Monday for a different show! This week, celebrating the release of her new single “Starting Today,” Jessica Childress will be gracing the stage with a full band show! The show is free for those 21+ and up that RSVP Here.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 20th
Come to one of the most heartbreaking, funniest, honest, and open shows you’ll see all year at the Museum of Broken Relationships. Each month, a selection of actors/comedians/humans sound off on the topic of heartbreak, all the way “from written essays about the loss of a life-long pet to the off-the-cuff raw emotion about a breakup that happened yesterday.” Whatever happens, it’ll be a special night.
Tickets available Here.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21st
Sometimes, you just want to go out and see some live music. No crazy themes, no special hidden entryways, just experience this “huge Los Angeles music scene” everybody’s always talkin’ about. Well this is just that – doors open at 7 with a DJ until 8, with Sophie Strauss playing a set at 8PM, and Overjoy taking over the stage at 9. No cover charge, just a good, old fashioned gig.
More information available Here.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 22nd
This Thursday, head on down to the North Hollywood Art District for their monthly 3rd Thursdays Art Walk. Akin to a first friday, the event will feature an assortment of vendors, artists, live musical performances, food, and more to spend an evening with. The walk lasts until 10PM in the Noho Art Plaza, with an after-party taking place at Big Wangs from 9PM – 2AM.

If you’ve never experienced The Odd Market, tonight might be the night to change that as it is popping up (as it is every 3rd Friday until until October) at The Autry Museum. The massive event, taking up over 2 acres in Griffith Park, includes live music, over 80 pop shops, food trucks, rock wall, games, full bar, and EVEN MORE! Admission is $5, which includes access to The Autry Museum. The event starts at 6 PM, and parking nearby is free, there’s no reason not to be there. Enjoy.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 24th
Join Vans &Think Tank Gallery on the opening night of their new art show, Drinkin’ Smokin & West Coastin’, a love/hate letter to the city of Los Angeles. The show includes installations tackling a range of Los Angeles stereotypes and bits of culture, from a satirical K-Town liquor store, to a “DMV Dive Bar.” Opening night will feature plenty of goodies included with a ticket purchase, including performances pieces from Alex LeGolvan, and a dinner of chicken and beer from Roscoe’s and Lagunitas. Yes, you read that right, a dinner of chicken and beer from Roscoes’s and Lagunitas. You don’t want to miss this.

Now, whether they like it or not, those films will be screened in front of a live audience. Come be a part of that audience! Screenings start on the 17th and go all weekend, but finish off this Sunday.
