On Saturday, August 20, 2016, NYX Professional Makeup celebrated the online makeup artist and beauty community by naming the “Beauty Vlogger of the Year” at the Fifth Annual NYX Fine Artistry of Cosmetic Elites Awards Show at the Novo LA in Los Angeles. The ceremony, hosted by YouTube star Kandee Johnson and featured performances by Beyoncé protégés Chloe X Halle and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Alyssa Edwards and The Haus of Edwards. Finalist Laura Sanchez was named “Beauty Vlogger of the Year”, and in addition to winning $50,000, she also received consultations with professional makeup artists, a year’s supply of NYX Cosmetics, and the opportunity to kick-start a professional career in makeup artistry. The five runner-ups including Pompberry, Alexa Poletti, CosmoByHaley and Brianna Fox all received $15,000.

The competition, which kicked off in April 2016 with thousands of video entries, has surpassed three rounds of public voting; to date, millions of votes have been cast. “There is no other makeup competition like the NYX FACE Awards,” says host Kandee Johnson. “It attracts people from all over the Internet. Many of the contestants are self-taught but have incredible talents with makeup.
